April month brings a lot of cheer for peasants in all part of the country. It is the harvesting season for Rabi crops. We, at Vividha, decided to celebrate our Rice bowl of Indi –Saada Punjab.
There were energetic performances by our members in the form of Jaago. followed by Giddha, the folk dance of Punjab. Even the audience could not contain their happiness and joined the performers on stage. Ladies looked dashing in their Punjabi suits and Phulkari dupattas. It was really difficult to distinguish the Punjabi speaking lot from the non punjabis. And that is the beauty of Vividh -एक दूसरे के रंग में रंग जाना।
We also held a short quiz about Punjab where winners were given small gifts.
We talked about April fool’s day too. How it was started and how we used to play pranks when we were students.
We also discussed about Baba Saheb Ambedkar whose birthday falls on 14 April.
We also talked about Ramadan and Eid and the festivities and significance attached to one month of fasting and feasting.
Members also threw light on the celebrations of Good Friday, Easter and Mahavir Jayanti.
This was a whole lot of entertainment and enlightenment.
We celebrated May Day, Mother’s Day and Buddha Purnima in May meeting. Janak Bhatia narrated beautiful lines compiled by her on ‘ Mother’. Janak ji had also prepared a story tambola which was fast and enjoyable . Vandana Marodia narrated an emotional story about mother which brought tears to everyone’s eyes.
We had invited a wellness expert and an Ayurveda practitioner to talk about common ailments, symptoms and their cure. Members took advantage of the question answer round and indulged fully in the talk.
Last two months were a mix of emotions, entertainment, knowledge and skills. We,the Vividha family, brings out the best in our members.
