Vijay Dashmi festival was celebrated in the central lawns of Saket Dham apartments on October12, 2024 evening with great fun and fervour. This festival symbolises the victory of good over evil, which is burnt and destroyed in the form of demon Ravna.
Preparations for Vijay Dashmi celebrations started early during the day when a giant size effigy of the demon Ravna was brought, anchored with ropes for safety reasons and installed at one of the corners of the park. Post sunset, residents of Saket Dham started pouring in at the venue and within minutes, they assembled in large number to celebrate the occasion. The weather was favourable and the residents looked fresh, energetic, full of excitement and in great festive mood. Poster and Fancy dress competitions were also organised for the children of the society and awards given to all the participants to encourage their contribution.
Puja ceremony was performed by Pandit ji with chanting of mantras. As soon as it was dark, the effigy of Ravna was lit with fire. With the flickering of the eye, the giant demon Ravna was in full flames. The crackers planted inside burst in full strength with deafening non-stop sounds. Within seconds, the giant Ravna was reduced to ashes.
Assorted hot Pakoras and Jalebi were served to all to mark the celebrations. Residents greeted each other wishing Happy Vijay Dashmi. The celebrations were highly enjoyed by one and all.
