I Came across this Whatsapp forward in multiple groups about Delhi resident Nirvaan Somany, using old denim jeans to make sleeping bags for street dwellers to stay warm in the harsh winter.
As a practice, before forwarding any such messages I dial the given number to authenticate the content
I dialed the number and this lady picked up the call and shared the Story.
Her school going teenage son, Nirvaan Somany, has started this initiative from collecting used denims from his school friends
She runs a Boutique and has a tailoring Team working with her. She stepped in to help him weave his dream into reality. All starting in a very small way.
They don’t have a support Team yet to reach out to hold Collection Camps
They request school children to keep collecting in a box in school premises and them personally go and pick up the items
They are planning to create a volunteer community to help this cause.
Meanwhile they are requesting people to buy and donate their sleeping bags during this winter. This is currently being done at bare cost without any profit however to sustain long term they will require funds
