Baishakhi was celebrated with great enthusiasm and zest. The program for the day was planned as per traditional practices adopted to celebrate the occasion. Folk dances from Punjab were performed to foot-tapping Punjabi music by our own gorgeous ladies, Harpreet Gupta, Shashi Mathur, Garima and Sushmita the choreographer.
The performances were indeed electrifying!
A very graceful solo dance was performed by Ms Pooja, who was trained by Ananya Chaturvedi. Thank you, Ananya & Pooja.
The rendition of Punjabi folk songs by Jagdeep Kaur, renowned Punjabi singer who was accompanied on the tabla by Chanchal Singh, a well-known tabla player, resonated with the audience who clapped along to the rhythm.
The DJ also focused on peppy Punjabi songs and dholl, which brought almost all the ladies to the dance floor. They danced with beaming smiles to the pulsating rhythm of the dholl!
The women all looked stunning in Punjabi suits and colourful phulkari dupattas.
Photo sessions have become an integral part of the fun-filled events organised painstakingly by the committee and add to the wonderful aura. A number of exquisite handicrafts were on display, including phulakari dupattas straight from the weavers in Punjab.
The icing on the cake was the Amritsari snacks and lunch, which was relished by one and all. The Kada Prasad was a real hit!!
We wish to express our gratitude to the Club Executive Committee members for their unflinching support.
Special thanks to Harpreet Gupta for coordinating the cultural program.
We thank the ladies whose gracious presence made the event a success. The credit for putting up an excellent show goes to Neeta Dogra, President, Swaran Gupta, Vice President, Meenakshi Handa, Member, and Varsha Bansal, technical advisor.
