Honouring the Brave Children
After our government declared 26 DEC as VEER BAL DIWAS, it’s no longer just a sacred chant in our Gurudwaras about the Martyrdom of the Brave sons of Guru Gobind Singh ji, It is now a subject shared and discussed in every home, in memory of the unique Sacrifice of the children- Zorawar Singh (9 Yrs) and Fateh Singh (6Yrs) who sacrificed their lives smilingly, defying the orders of the Barbarian Muslim rulers to convert them to Islam.
Citizens Forum-Vasant Kunj decided to repeat the last Year’s successful event in a far far bigger way at the ISIC-Spinal Auditorium, to honour these brave children on this very Special Day, supported by our Hon. MP Shri Ramesh BIDHURI ji, and Hon Councillor Jagmohan Mehlawat ji.
The program was started by small children reciting Gurbani Shabad, as also with bhajan/kirtan by ladies group led by respected Dheeral Bhalla Behnji.
Hon. Ramesh BIDHURI ji paid tributes to all those who laid their lives for letting us live in our Hindustan as free citizens with free choice of our faith and rituals. He became highly emotional talking about the children brought up with such Valuable Sanskars.
OUR Hon. guest Dr. SHALINI BHALLA, Medical Director-ISIC besides paying great tributes to the brave children, also spoke of the noble learnings adopted by ISIC in the service of our Society, as prescribed by ISIC-Founder, late Major HPS AHLUWALIA ji.
Next Hon. guest was Shri ZILE Singhji, President-SCWA Vasant Kunj. Besides paying tributes, he also spoke of the sacred Shabad-kirtan programme resumed in SCWA, after he took over recently, as emphasised by your Citizens Forum.
Then came in Our Guest Speaker, highly learned Lecturer Swarn Singh ji from GHPS INDIA. Once again the audience was spellbound when he started showering facts after the facts, kept hidden in our History.
Came in Mahesh Talwarji for reciting a highly emotional song/shabad.
Time now for the Quiz Programme, especially worked out on the brave Martyrs, for the highly excited 20 children present there.
Councillor Jagmohan Mehlawat presented trophies to these children, winners in our Quiz programme, besides addressing the audience.
Many Hon. Citizens also had brought gift packs containing stationary items, health-items, clothes, beautiful bags etc for the poor children.
The Spinal Auditorium was packed to its capacity proving that the general public was so keenly interested in such historical programs.
It is time now to thank the four wonderful ladies for their excellent contribution in making this event so great: Amita Mehra for superb anchoring with her mesmerising words; Sneh Lata Rathi for coordinating with our BJP leaders; Dheeraj Bhalla ji for conceptualising the event so meticulously; and above all, Ritu Kalra for coordinating with ISIC, besides our thanking the Inner Wheel Club Delhi Grand for sponsoring the lovely Trophies.
