Vasant Vihar has started a film club called “ReelTalk Wednesdays.” Its inaugural session was to be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, with screening of the film TAANGH (Longing) followed by the audience interaction facilitated by the curator, Aanchal Kapur of Kriti Film Club. The screening of the film has been postponed as a mark of respect and solidarity with the doctors who value the security and safety of each citizen – the young, the old, the women, the children, and the men alike. The film will now be screened on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 5.30 pm at Aravalli Auditorium, Kalyan Kendra, Vasant Vihar. The screening will be followed by a discussion. The film Taangh is about sports, memories, and spirit of patriotism. It is against the backdrop of Partition, independent India’s first hockey team defeats England, their erstwhile coloniser, to win the Gold at the 1948 London Olympics. Six decades later, when Nandy Singh, a member of this iconic team suffers a stroke, his tenacious struggle to recover inspires his daughter to retrace his journey.
