Vardaan is an initiative by few grade twelve students of Delhi Public School, Mathura Road. Their aim is to bring a smile to the lesser privileged. Founded by Pratinav Lamba, Aarnav Jain and Moulik Aggarwal. Mouli Arya, Ananya Verma & Mannat Gulati volunteer with them. These teenagers wanted to celebrate Diwali in a different way. Thus came “Ujala”.
They collaborated with an NGO Niswarth Sewa Foundation run by social worker, Sapna Sehrawat resident of K block to bring a difference.
On 22nd October these volunteers reached the venue at K Block to celebrate with kids from Nishwarth Sewa. Nidhi Lamba who is the founder of Stagecrackers and mother of Pratinav Lamba accompanied these enthusiastic teens.
The event kicked off by making paper planes by the kids. They wrote their names and wishes and flew them in the air. Story of Ramayana was shared by Nidhi followed by a quiz.
By then it was lunch time, so all kids got snack boxes from Vardaan. Post lunch, a rangoli competition was arranged for all kids in the driveway. By sunset, kids were excited to release paper lanterns and each kid lit a diya.
There was a lot of excitement and enthusiasm among the volunteers and the kids.
The icing on the cake was the entry of the Dhol wala, everyone danced together and enjoyed the beats.
The smiles on the faces of kids were priceless and everyone was happy to see this. Sapna thanked team Vardaan and the team was happy and content to have made a small difference and make it special for these kids.
