New Friends Colony is grappling with severe challenges that require immediate attention. Issues like traffic congestion, illegal encroachments, and safety hazards are escalating, severely affecting the quality of life for residents. Despite repeated efforts to involve authorities, the situation on C.V. Raman Road and adjacent streets has reached a crisis point.
Traffic Gridlock on Residential Streets: Once tranquil, streets like C.V. Raman Road, Mata Ka Mandir Road, Sujan Mohindra Road, Gurudwara Sahib Road, and Ashoka Park Road have become bottlenecks due to heavy traffic from schools, hospitals, markets, and unauthorized commercial vehicles. The resulting gridlock disrupts daily life, blocks emergency services, and puts public safety in jeopardy.
A comprehensive traffic management plan with active police presence during peak hours is urgently needed to restore order and ensure smooth movement.
Encroachments and Parking Woes: Illegal encroachments and unauthorized parking have overrun public spaces, creating unsafe and unsanitary conditions. Vendors and commercial vehicles occupying roads and no-parking zones have turned parts of our colony into chaotic, lawless areas.

We urge authorities to conduct a targeted enforcement drive to reclaim public spaces and restore order.
Strained Infrastructure with Looming Expressway Impact: The anticipated opening of the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway will further burden New Friends Colony’s already overstretched infrastructure. The increased influx of vehicles demands immediate upgrades and better management to prevent further deterioration of living conditions.
DTC Buses on Mata Ka Mandir Road: A Safety Hazard: A pressing concern is the routing of DTC buses through Mata Ka Mandir Road, a narrow residential lane. Despite numerous complaints to Traffic Police, DTC, DIMTS, and appeals to MLA Ms. Atishi and the Chief Minister of Delhi, no relief has been provided.
These buses endanger the lives of children, elderly residents, and women while creating noise and invading privacy. Importantly, the buses offer no tangible benefit to residents, as they are rarely used by locals.
We demand the immediate rerouting of these buses to protect the safety and peace of our community.
Call for Immediate Action
This situation is more than an inconvenience—it poses a serious threat to safety and well-being. We strongly urge all concerned authorities to:
1. Implement a traffic management plan with visible police presence.
2. Remove illegal encroachments and unauthorized parking.
3. Reroute DTC buses away from residential streets like Mata Ka Mandir Road.
4. Upgrade infrastructure to accommodate increasing traffic loads.
The residents of New Friends Colony deserve urgent and comprehensive action. Let us work together to make our community safe, peaceful, and livable once again.
