An Interview with Kamal Agarwal
“Arre is me kya hai, ye to hum kar lenge – is the general misconception that we Indians have about organizing wedding ceremonies. But when it comes to the actual task, we are at our wits’ end. And that’s how my journey of writing the book began,” says Kamal Agarwal! Those who live in Sector 39 or even across Noida may already know him – since Agarwals are a well-established business family, well settled in Noida for the last two generations. Kamal Agarwal, a busy entrepreneur, faced the unfortunate loss of his mother and later his wife before they could plan the wedding of their children. When it was time to get his daughter married, there was no one to guide them on the stepwise customs and traditions associated with North Indian Weddings. This realization led him to compile his experiences and notes, intending to create a guide for others who may face similar challenges. The result? ‘Indian (Hindu) Wedding Ceremonies – a Step by Step Ceremonies Guide’, a book that’s gaining popularity. Kamal Agarwal didn’t aim for commercial success; he wanted to simplify the complexities of wedding planning for families. Confusion about organising rituals is common with nuclear families and busy professional lives. Based on personal experiences and notes, this book doesn’t delve into the stories or reasons behind the ceremonies but offers a practical stepwise guide. One resident, who owns a wedding apparel store, echoed the sentiment, “Jo Log in mehnge lehnge, saree ya shadi pe khracha karte hain, unke liye ye kitab afford karna kitna to easy hai.”
Kamal Agarwal (9810000543) lives with his father, son, and daughter-in-law in Sector 39 of Noida.
