We wanted to celebrate Diwali and wanted to protect the environment too. The celebration and challenge were merged and our teachers took it in right spirit. Just three days before Diwali, the teachers at Unnati (an initiative to teach children from humble background) organised a diya painting workshop which was conducted by Nidhi Asthana for the students, wherein they learnt to paint and decorate diyas. Next day, Diwali competitions were organised where the children had to use eco friendly materials to make toran, rangoli, kandel and diwali greeting cards. All the children enjoyed a lot in making and decorating them with eco friendly stuff. The students even used the things made by them for decorating their own houses. The winners were given Diwali decorative items on the auspicious day of Diwali as a reward of appreciation from Mrs. Amrita. It was indeed a great fun packed activity as well as educational celebration to protect our environment.
