An absolutely beautiful and fun-filled Diwali Melawas organised by UNITED B-FIVE Residents’ Welfare Association on Nov. 3, 2023. Stalls of exclusive wares and street-food were a huge hit with all as was the cultural program by children and ladies.
Lighting of the auspicious lamp by Chief Guest, Sh. Somnath Bharti, MLA and VC- DJB, Smt. Sarita Phogat, Municipal Councillor – Green Park and Sh. Kamal Bhardwaj, Municipal Councillor – Hauz Khas along with esteemed members of our block was followed by the gesture of all present participating in the Ganesh vandana as they held the diyas and sang along. This added to the festive mood. Peppy songs, enthralling dancesand performances, residents out in their cheerful spirit, yummy street-food – all furthered the electrifying atmosphere. Not just the office-bearers of the RWA, many residents volunteered and took responsibilities to make the mela enjoyable for all.
We believe that Diwali is not only a time for celebration, but also a time for giving joy to others. The highlight of the cultural program was the item by the ‘Self-Advocates’ – children with Down Syndrome – a unique initiative to create awareness and getting these children better accepted in society. This was indeed a poignantmoment for all!
The whole park sparkled not just with lights, diyasand stalls, but more with the warmth, togetherness and bonhomie of the residents. More than 300 people come to the mela, and enjoyed, mingledwith each other, met up with old friends and made new friends. It was totally a new experience in B5 Block and highly appreciated by all.
