A mounting pile of garbage and debris has residents of The Retreat (Rakshak, Heights and Ivory Tower), South City 1, sounding the alarm over a public health hazard brewing right at their doorstep. Photos depict a grim scene of waste accumulating near the society wall, rapidly transforming the area into a breeding ground for disease and discomfort.
This unsanitary situation is not just about an unpleasant sight or smell, with hundreds of residents, including young children and vulnerable seniors, living in close proximity, the health risks are simply unacceptable. Vermin and insects are drawn to the garbage, creating a constant threat of disease transmission, especially for those most susceptible.
The residents’ plea is clear: immediate action is required. They demand a thorough cleaning of the affected area, with the swift and complete removal of all accumulated waste. “We deserve to live in a safe and healthy environment,” The Retreat Society governing body members emphasize. The authorities must recognize the urgency of this matter and take decisive steps to mitigate the health risks before it’s too late. They further mention they have written to authorities, highlighting the growing sanitation crisis and urging immediate action, however, no action has been taken yet.
The Retreat residents urge a prompt response to their desperate plea. Their hope rests on the belief that responsible authorities will not turn a blind eye to a brewing public health crisis in their midst. The question remains: will their cries be heard and their concerns addressed, or will The Retreat continue to be plagued by the insidious threat of unchecked waste?
