Gurgaon’s DLF Phase 2 has become a hotspot for bicycle thefts, leaving residents pedalling in worry. On January 11th, a resident from the M-12 lane lost their cycle from the designated parking area. While the exact details of the model or brand are unavailable, CCTV footage reportedly captured the thief’s face, offering a glimmer of hope for recovery.
Adding to the residents’ woes, another attempted bicycle theft was thwarted on 22nd January. Mrs. Oberoi, a resident of M-9/36 B, and her husband, Mr. Oberoi, apprehended a thief trying to steal a cycle from their premises. The swift action by the couple led to the thief’s capture and subsequent handover to the DLF Phase 2 Police Station. As per the couple, the thief was around 17 years old. However, a formal FIR was not lodged, leaving questions about the thief’s motive and potential connection to the M-12 lane incident unanswered. While the police investigate these incidents, residents express concern about the rising bicycle thefts. Residents are urged to remain vigilant, secure their cycles with proper locks, and immediately report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
