On 2nd September 2024, N block had a major breakthrough when a water connection was finally provisioned for the parks opposite N 99 and 101 after 3 long years of waiting. The sad saga had begun on 21st October 2021 when DDA handed over 3 parks of less than 3 acres area each to the MCD. These were the parks behind N 81A and those opposite N 99 and 101, respectively. Since then, the latter two parks have survived, thanks only to the rains and a tiny fraction of the required water being made available from Panchshila Montessori School. The new arrangement has been made by re-activating the dormant tubewell in the open area adjoining N 175, providing electricity for the pump by the school and by laying out the pipes from the pump house to the park opposite N 101. A connection already exists between the two parks to carry water from one park to the other. This accomplishment is a splendid example of the collaborative effort between the Society and the N block RWA. The initial quotations were arranged by the RWA and handed over to Mr. Rajiv Batra, Managing Committee (MC) member. In parallel, the issue had also been highlighted by the author to Mr. Pankaj Vats, another MC member. The MC organized its own quotes and approved the project of installing a pump and the pipeline, including repair of the pump house which is in shambles. Between Captain Paintola of the Society and Raj Kumar Chauhan, Manager of the RWA, seamless efforts are underway to have everything in place. The water flow has already been assessed and the facility will start to be utilized once the rains stop. We are grateful to the Society, specifically the Society Subcommittee, and the RWA, for finally solving this long-standing problem.
