RW&CS Can Introduce A Handbook for Thoughtful Living: Events, Parking, and Construction Etiquette
It starts innocently enough—a honk here, a rumble there. But for residents of Sector 26, noise has become an unwelcome companion. The elevated road roars with traffic, school zones buzz with impatient honking, and construction sites echo with the relentless grind of machines. Add to this the booming music during wedding season, and peace feels like a distant dream.
The UP Pollution Control Board’s 2022 data confirmed what residents already knew—noise levels in NOIDA often exceed permissible limits of 55 decibels during the day and 45 at night. For comparison, prolonged exposure to noise above 80 decibels can harm hearing, while levels of 130 decibels or more can cause permanent damage.
Some relief is on the horizon. The Noida Authority plans to install sound barriers along the elevated road, potentially reducing noise impact by up to 50 decibels. Regulations are in place too—Quiet Zones have been declared near schools and hospitals, and loudspeakers are banned in open spaces after 10 pm. But enforcement remains weak, and without collective effort, these measures fall short.
To further this cause, RW&CS can introduce a booklet that explains the Do’s and Don’ts during construction, weddings, events at home, and parking guidelines, and distribute it to residents to promote responsible behavior.
Noise pollution isn’t just a nuisance; it’s a health hazard. It disrupts sleep, causes anxiety, and even affects animals and birds. Residents must raise awareness, celebrate responsibly, and report violations.
Imagine a quieter neighborhood—where weddings bring joy, not sleepless nights, and where patience replaces honking. Together, we can restore the peace that our community deserves. After all, silence isn’t just golden—it’s healing
