Chaturmaas is a stipulated period of four months when Lord Vishnu, the Preserver from the Trinity, goes in Yoga Nidra. Dev Uthani Ekadashi marks the end of this period when Lord Vishnu arises from His sleep and Tulsi ji gets married to His form as Shaligram.
This ritual holds special importance for all ardent believers because only after this divine union in heaven, it is considered auspicious to hold marriages of human beings on Earth. That is why we see all the marriages happening in this part of the year.
On Thursday, 23 November, the Espacia Mandir Committee organised the Tulsi Vivaah in the temple, undertaking efforts to conduct all the wedding rituals properly. To begin the ceremony, the holy basil plant representing Tulsi ji was covered in laal chunri and red bangles.
Devotees offered saree, Sindoor/ red vermillion, and solah shringar to Mother Tulsi to show their reverence. A symbolic marriage of Tulsi ji was conducted with Shaligram. To reap benefits of the saintly deed, ladies flocked to the temple with a variety of offerings for kanyadaan which included bridal saarees, jewellery, dinner set etc.
The Pandit ji chanted sacred vows and wedding mantras after which the hawan was conducted. The spirit of joy which we feel in any and every marriage ceremony pervaded the atmosphere rendering divinity to all in attendance.
As we all know, no marriage is considered complete unless traditional vivaah Geet are sung. Ladies paid their reverence to this holy marriage by singing many vivaah Geet and bhajans as well. Towards the closure, fruit prasad was distributed to every devotee in attendance.
Everybody thanked the Mandir Committee for organising this sacred event which gave us an opportunity to soak in the blessings of the divine.
