Given the growing importance of physical fitness and mental health, an Open Table Tennis Tournament was organized at Exclusive Floors Owners Society from 30th June to 2nd July which indeed gave a golden opportunity to the residents to show their sporty streak.
The tournament had two age groups, that is 9-13 yrs and 14 yrs and above. The singles matches were played in both categories and the doubles were open to all age groups. There was an overwhelming response to the tournament as the age bracket of the participants ranged from 9 to 75 years. Kabir Girdhar was the winner of Singles in the 9-14 age group and Ishaan Arora was the runner-up. It was a competitive game between the two finalists as they gave a tough fight to each other.
To add more, Vineet Nagpal won the Singles in the 14 yr and above category whereas Sonal Sachdev was the runner-up. It was indeed a worth-watching singles final. Both the players showcased aptitude, agility and a strong desire to win the match. As far as Doubles was concerned, there were around ten teams which played the game to the best of their ability. After multiple matches, the Doubles title was won by Harinder Thakral and Sonal Sachdev who left no stone unturned to confirm their victory in the Best of Seven finals. The charming couple Pankaj Arora and Preeti Gupta displayed a lot of camaraderie and understanding while playing in the finals. Nevertheless, they were the runners-up.
The whole tournament was conceived, supervised and executed by Vimal Narang(Sports In charge) along with his son Rohit Narang. He made sure that all the requirements for the tournament were fulfilled and put in sincere efforts to organize the same with infectious enthusiasm. Other members of RWA such as Anil Goswami (Secy, EFOS) and S.C. Sharma (Cultural Secy, EFOS) supported the event wholeheartedly.
The Prize Distribution ceremony took place on 16th of July and the prizes were given to the winners. The participation certificates were also given to all the contestants for their enthusiasm.
In today’s digital world where people are always preoccupied with their daily routine tasks, job and family commitments, games and sports truly act as stress busters. Moreover, they also bring the whole community together! Let there be an Inter DLF Phase V Table Tennis Tournament soon!
