On 8-9 July, LB residents organised friendly Table Tennis matches. 14 players, including senior citizens, participated. In the singles, VK Maini was the winner (3-1) & Indu Bhaskar was the runner-up. The third spot was shared by Abhishek Law & Sachin Agarwal.
Eight players made it to the quarter finals – top four from two groups. The other four players were Anil Seth, Aneesh Kapoor, Rajneesh Sharma & SS Khurana.
In the doubles, the team of VK Maini & Sachin Agarwal defeated the team of Aneesh Kapoor & KK Chaturvedi 2-0. The third spot was shared by Indu Bhaskar & SS Khurana and Anil Seth & Ashutosh Kaushik.
V Bhatnagar deserves a mention for joining in the spirit of the game despite his recent recovery from a medical condition; while Dr US Srivastava played a supporting role and participated in all matches.
Former President Tej Prakash participated in the doubles while providing full support to the organisers.
Dipak Purwar opted out because of an injury but officiated the matches with Dr Sunil Narula. The tournament was planned by the technical committee of Indu Bhaskar, VK Maini, & Anil Seth. They kept the tempo high amongst players throughout the matches.
SS Khurana needs a mention too for planning & organising the tournament. Aneesh Kapoor & Prem Rautela provided support to the tournament, organisers and the technical committee. From the AOA, Amit Gandotra & Prabhakar Bharadwaj oversaw some of the matches & encouraged players. They opined that such friendlies would foster harmony among residents & committed more tournaments to be convened by AOA.
