My first memory of KK Kapoor (E-384, GK-I) was of participating in the sports day of our locality as a child, where Kapoor Saab helped conduct vari-ous events. He was at the forefront of organising cultural programs in the colony park. He would use his contacts to invite star singers like Assa Singh Mastana and Surinder Kaur to perform. In those days, it was like getting Mikka for a colony function. Such was his clout. Screening movies on a big screen was a huge draw in those days.
Much later, when I got involved in RWA, I truly started to appreciate what all he had done to turn our neighborhood into a CLOSE BOUND COMMUNITY. He leaves behind a legacy that has inspired RWA members over the years, many services we enjoy today and take for granted are the fruits of his and the RWA team’s tireless efforts. In the early eighties, he, along with RWA Office Bearers, managed to stop the conversion of the toddler section of our park into a mini shopping center. I too, as a youngster in college, participated in those protests.
He was instrumental in forming the ‘Senior Citizen Club,’ which meets every morning in the colony park and performs yoga and meditation. The club celebrates birthdays and anniversaries of seniors. At the age of 94, he was an inspiration to seniors decades younger.
