A full grown tree suddenly got uprooted and fell on the back road between Shanti Kunj Apartment and Trifla Park of the sector. Since it was evening time, the washerman’s fam-
ily was ironing the clothes at that moment in their kiosk. Luckily, the tree first fell on the overhead electricity transmission lines due to which lot of sparking took place which served as alarm to the family and they immediately ran hither & thither and managed to get away from the scene in panic. Subsequently, the tree fell on their kiosk and the washerman’s family had a narrow escape. Since this accident happened on the back road, there was no movement of public at that time; otherwise any untoward incident could have occurred. The internet cable also got snapped due to impact of the falling tree which was repaired later by the concerned service provider.
The reason for this seems to be continual damage to the roots of the tree due to repeatedly repairing of the road and also reinforcement with concrete floor all around the tree not permitting the tree to spread its roots in the ground. Such instances are repeating very often now in our city. Noida Authority must take a serious note on this issue and take necessary corrective measures like leaving sufficient soil space all around the trees for their natural growth and deep root strength before carrying out any concrete work on the roads. This issue has assumed immense significance since such instances have endangered human life. And moreover, one cannot be lucky every time.
