The first initiative the newly formed SLRWA took was the tree plantation drive. Deepak Verma appealed to the residents to plant trees and water them regularly to save our environment. The SLRWA had initiated the drive by contacting the MCG, who in turn promised to make seeds available to the committee. The SLRWA thus urged the residents to collect the seeds or saplings free from them and take care of them as their own child until it is fully grown.
On July 11, 2024 the drive officially commenced for which Ashok Dalwani incessantly called for getting the saplings from the Community Centre or RWA office. The agenda was to plant as many trees as they could muster before the monsoon so that they grow in the appropriate time and weather to make Mother Earth green.
Later in the month, Verma thanked the society members for participating in the drive to enhance the sustainable Green Movement and mitigate the ill effects of climate change. Such a drive was called the Van Mahotsav -the festival of trees, to nurture Nature’s gift to humankind in a big way. To make the Earth greener is a long way to go, but the solace is- the drive is commenced!
