Ever since SLRWA started the composting plant in the Community Centre in C block, and regular requests from the garbage gathering company to segregate it in different bins, we were hopeful that more residents will follow the suit. It has been months now still the company is asking to use the bin liners and segregate the garbage to make it easier for them to make compost out of it.
We all call ourselves educated, civil people then why do we need to be reminded so many times how to live civilly? The modern world perhaps has made us so self-centred and mindless towards others’ suffering that we don’t spare a minute for what is going on around us.
In a way, we have become thoughtless of our sufferings too, as it all comes on us in the end. We know our rights but forgot our duties, we keep complaining that the vacant plot, next door is filled with filth and pests are troubling them but forget to remember who has filled them with filth. How would we learn to slam dunk the junk and be a part of the solution, not pollution?
