Hustle bustle of city life is expected in any upmarket colony of a metropolitan. At the same time, the traffic mess that’s become part of everyday life of a greater kailash 2 resident is nothing short of a nightmare.
The entry to greater kailash 2 any time of the day is an ordeal, as it provides access to not only the colony itself, but also CR park, Alaknanda, Govind Puri, Tughlakabad, and even Faridabad. All this traffic goes through the colony roads clogging them day in and day out. Everyday there is jam on the main roads, spilling on to the inner lanes as well.
Cars speeding on the road, bikes weaving through and overloaded three wheelers are omnipresent. Commercial vehicles, necessitated by rampant construction, as well as the bustling market cause frequent jams. If that were not enough, the encroachments, and the haphazard parking by vendors, residents and visitors make up the perfect storm on the roads and inner lanes as well.
In all this, what is shocking is the complete apathy of the traffic authority. Can they not see the mess that every resident can? There is no action to manage the traffic on a routine basis, nor there seems to bae an effort to work towards a solution.
Questions that need asking are:
1. Why don’t cops manage traffic, especially during morning and evening rush hours?
2. Why is there no action against cars parked on the roadside?
3. Why are vehicles speeding on the main roads not challaned?
4. Why is the entry and exit to the M-Block market not managed, that perpetually leads to the jammed M-Block road?
5. Why are shared autos with multiple passengers permitted to ply within the colony?
6. Are the authorities working on providing an alternate route to the ever-growing traffic that passes through this colony?
While questions are many and have been asked repeatedly, the silence of the concerned authorities is deafening.
