Traffic conditions in Defence colony have turned from bad to worse in the last couple of months, as outside vehicles have again started using our colony as a free way to avoid outside traffic.
Not only are we facing severe traffic jams but also confronted with drivers speeding at reckless speed on the colony roads, especially on the nallah road.
Recently a motorcyclist driving rashly on the nallah road near Tikona park D block hit our colony guard supervisor Janardhan who was on foot patrolling the area.
Janardhan was thrown in the air by the hit and simultaneously also got bumped by an oncoming car. He suffered serious injuries on head shoulder and broke his elbow bone. The motor cyclist also broke his leg and had an open wound.
Janardhan was immediately rushed to Moolchand hospital by Sumeet and Veena Khanna president RWA and Brig Kapur and Col Nagrani with the help of police team rushed the motorcyclist to another hospital.
Janardhan has been advised surgery for his elbow and help came to him from the most helpful residents of this colony Sameer Kapoor and Dr Pankaj Bajaj (Ortho) who not only examined him but arranged for him surgery at AIIMS Trauma Centre at a very concessional rate. Thanks to these two great residents that Janardhan’s surgery went well and he is on his way to full recovery.
If it wasn’t for Sameer’s timely help things wouldn’t have worked out so easily. Also thankful to all those residents who donated generously for Janardhan.
Lastly, I would just say we need to have a traffic system in place especially speed breakers on the nallah road.
