Over the past 3 to 4 weeks the Managing Committee members have been rigorously following up the issues of the traffic chaos on NKP marg and have met the ACP Traffic and Traffic Inspector(TI) who carried out a detailed survey of NKP marg and the Aurobindo Market area*
The following actions have been suggested
1) Removal of road divider next to Aurobindo market while entering SDA
2) Cutting of branches of 3 trees with branches dangerously overhanging onto NKP Marg
3) Installation of 3 to 4 table top speed barriers on NKP Marg
4) Installation of Rumble strips on both sides of the MCD School cum Mini market zone
5) Removal of broken down map structure behind Aurobindo Market to make road wider
6) Go slow Residential area/No Honking at multiple points on NKP Marg
7) Traffic Police patrolling outside Aurobindo Market
We are pleased to inform you that the Traffic Inspector has already issued letters to PWD on 4 of the above. We have visited the AE PWD and learnt that Road Divider and broken down map is going to be removed soon
Action on other issues will be taken soon
It is literally a nightmare to enter SDA at peazk hours. The entire NPK Marg and Aurbindo Marg are chock a block with massive traffic james. There is so much encroachment on the road going from Green park Church to Hauz Khas village road. The residents here despite having huge houses have encroached upon Govt land by making big gardens and using at least 100 yards of public land as their private parking. One wonders how can such law lessness is tolerated right under the nose of MLA ( MLA office is right there) and also very close to DC’ s office. The entire area is sufferering from traffic jams since years because authorities do not take any action and such massive encroachments are not removed, A road which can be as wide as 60 ft has been reduced to hardly 10 ft resulting in traffic chaos in this busy road which caters to three main colonies and two extremely busy markets.
With the same party in power and the MLA and Councillor also being of the same party there should be no excuse of not acting on this issue at the earliest. The RWA’ s of SDA. Green park and HauzKhas Village Mkt Association must join in hands and get this problem resolved for ever.
