Every Hindu knows the surreal story of Maa Durga defeating the buffalo demon Mahishasura. All nine days she fought the demon mark the nine auspicious days of Navratras, each day devoted to each reincarnation of Maa. Maa blessed the Shubhkamna compound with her blessings all nine days as the residents performed the Durga Saptshati paath in her reverence.
Each day residents arranged a mesmerising pandal, offered bhog and distributed prasad to all devotees. The women residents participated with immense zeal and fervour. The daily path was followed by bhajan and kirtan, devotees danced to the beats of dholak and manjeera.
Goddess Durga or ‘Shakti’, the physical form of energy, showered all the staff, workers and residents with equal vivacity and energy. It was a nine-day-long festival creating a sense of unity and prosperity among all residents of Shubhkamna society, a festival not to be missed.
