We were unheard and alone and this misery has been going on for many years. Our neighbours have been dumping garbage, and throwing waste water (pochhe ka pani) for many years, in our house/plot. On our objections, we were assaulted, threatened, and harassed and even our assets were damaged (parked car and other assets). Unbelievably, even for multiple FIRs for assault and all this, no visible action was taken, at least to prevent it. What we ultimately learnt from this episode is that even the most beautiful home in the most serene town can become a nightmare if you live next door to the wrong kind of people.
Surprisingly RWA and Samiti supremes, and so-called activists of our sector, were silent and never took this issue.
Almighty is the only saviour when there are no others. And silent persuasion pays. Thankfully, it was heard by officials of the Noida Authority. I am thankful to Ritu Maheshwari and Ms Jyotsana and all in their team, especially the health department( Vijay Raval & Balraj Bhatti) for appropriate intervention, in at least removal of this heaps of garbage dump from my house, before it became a cause of epidemic and health hazard.
I look forward to assurance that this will not be repeated and we should keep civic actions, of not troubling our neighbours.
Like me, many silent sufferers have remained silent or were silenced. We, therefore, need welfare groups, and constituent members, with whom we cooperate, in times of need and this neighbourhood presently seems to be lost.
Humans are social creatures, so they cannot survive in isolation. A whole range of research shows that the neighbourhood and its surrounding community have a huge impact on our lifestyle. During tough times the first one we can count on for help is our neighbours. The relatives or friends will take time to reach out, it’s the next-door neighbours who will be there to help if amicable relations are maintained. And to maintain that kind of relationship, does not require much – only cordial behaviour and a little civic sense. Love Thy Neighbour: This is what we are taught in school and religions also preach this. But do we practice this? Surely issues can be worked out amicably. A cordial relationship between neighbours is always mutually beneficial.
