Sneaky Act On The Rise
In a bizarre and unexpected turn of events, three people were recorded on CCTV camera stealing shoes from a shoe rack kept outside a builder floor.
The incident happened in J block in broad daylight; the way they entered and exited quickly shows that they were very precise and clear of their target. They only took 3. 5 minutes to do so, and when the incident came to light, three other similar incidents were reported that happened in M and N blocks.
The thieves target builder floors and exactly know where the shoe racks are placed.
They usually look for a building that has open gates. Very confidently they take the lift and reach the required floor; one person closes the peephole with his hand, the other puts shoes in the carry bag, and very swiftly they take the stairs to exit.
The way they are operating it is quite possible that they did recce before entering the premises or might have gotten information from some person working in the building, which could be a guard or staff member.
Residents are being urged to remain vigilant and consider securing their belongings in more protected spaces, as these types of thefts may become more frequent in the coming months.
This incident is part of a growing trend in some residential areas where thieves target easily accessible outdoor storage spaces, from shoes left outside to unattended bicycles. While the crime may seem minor, experts believe it could signal a shift in petty crime patterns.
