Delhi is reeling from an intense heatwave. With temperature soaring upto 52 degree Celsius, it has become crucial for everyone not to venture out during the day. This drastic change is a warning to mankind to take remedial measures and bring about positive change, by making our environment greener and saving our mother earth as well.
What better can it be than planting saplings, which in turn would grow into trees, restoring the greenery and bring about positive change in the climate. Many organizations are taking interest in this area. I came across a Calcutta based NGO, which released a video requesting everyone to collect mango seeds and courier it to them. They require Ten lakhs Seeds for this project.
Our effort only requires collecting the seeds and couriering them. Their work starts after receiving the seeds- propagating, growing them into saplings and then distributing/ planting them in vacant patches to restore the greenery. I have always been interested in recycling and this video caught my attention. I spread the word around and with friends, managed to collect 80 mango seeds, to be couriered to the above said organization.
Well this is just the start. Right now it is the mango season. It is very easy for everyone to collect mango seeds and not throw them in the dustbin. I request everyone to collect all the mango seeds and send it across to me (if you can’t do the courier) so that I can further send it to the organization.
I am thankful to my friends Savita Gupta, Saroj Mittal, Meenakshi Chadha for their support in collecting the seeds. Collectively we collected 80 mango seeds. We must see to it that this project becomes a huge success for the benefit of mankind as well as a game changer towards a healthy harmonious environment.
