We Need To Address the Increasing Crimes, Thefts, Burglary & Break-Ins, Chain Snatching & Car Thefts
Samvada News Bureau
A theft has been reported in one of the servant quarters in B-block. Thief has taken mobile phones of the driver and the cook and cash around Rs 1300.Thief came by climbing a pipe in the back lane and entered from the window into their rooms. This is not the first time the theft has taken place. Such incidents have taken place many times even earlier, but the frequency of such incidents is on the increase in Vasant Vihar and the neighboring colonies. Security needs to be beefed up in Vasant Vihar and its neighborhoods.
Primarily, it remains the responsibility of the residents to secure their premises by increasing the height of the perimeter walls, putting up back lane fencing, installing CCTV. In this connection, Parul, Director (Operations), VVWA had made an appeal to the residents in the VVWA official communication ‘Kaam ki Baat’ that residents should secure their dwellings by installing grills in their backlanes. This needs to be done on war footing. At the same time, VVWA should re-evaluate the existing security arrangements and plug the loopholes in security in consultation and support of the local police and civic agencies.
“We do need to address the genesis of these increasing crimes, thefts, burglary and break-ins, chain snatching, car thefts etc.
Everyone feels it’s not their problem, till they get hit themselves,” says one of the prominent residents.
