The first-ever Wishtown Champion Golf League was held in the Sector 128 Golf Course with much fanfare from 28 September to 10 November. The event was organized by the Wishtown Golf Course management and conceptualized by Mr MK Anand, an ardent golfer.
10 teams divided into two pools, with 10 players each, participated. The format of the tournament was pool matches to begin with. Two top teams in each pool played the Semis and the winners met in the Finals.
All matches were contested with utmost vigour and skill in a cordial and warm atmosphere. It was nice to see players of all ages, handicap and gender participating in the event.
The top two teams from each pool – Wishtown Tigers & Santa Angels from Pool 1 and Noon Golfers & Wishtown Yodhas from Pool 2 – played the Semis on 2 and 3 November. The respective winners of the two Semis were Wishtown Tigers and Noon Golfers.
These two teams contested for the final honours on Sunday, 10 November; that ended in a draw. The winner – Noon Golfers – was decided by a play off.
