The Ultimate Winner -Neeraj Basoya!

Meet the MLA

The Delhi Elections 2025 were quite fiercely fought as the stakes were high, and all three parties and candidates tried to prove their mettle by reaching out to the maximum voters by all means.

The candidates did all that was required to win any big election by doing padyatra, home visits, rallies by their big leaders, adding maximum volunteers to generate votes, SMS, voice messages, park meetings, etc.

The entire city was painted like a college election in which posters, leaflets, and high-volume speakers were used to attract voters. Each candidate promised various new schemes for all age groups, new developments, and lots of freebies, as Delhi has become famous for getting lots of subsidies in the last decade.

The voter turnout was quite high this time, with our Def Col crossing more than 50% voting after a long time. The counting day was quite intense, and the margins were quite low in the initial period, but with time, the clear winner was Neeraj Basoya, who won by more than 11000 votes against the nearest Congress candidate, Abhishek Dutt. We at Samvada met the new MLA to congratulate him and also to know his vision, mission, and plans for Defence Colony. The following are the details:

Ajay Kumar (Editor): Congratulations, Neeraj Basoya ji, on your landslide victory to become MLA for the Kasturba Nagar constituency. Our readers would like to know more about you.

Neeraj Basoya (MLA): I was born on 1 January 1976 in Delhi and did my LLB after completing studies at Delhi University. I am a grassroots Indian politician from the Bhartiya Janata Party and served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly from Kasturba Nagar in Delhi from 2008 to 2013 from the party. In May 2024, I, along with Arvinder Singh Lovely and other former Congress MLAs, resigned from the Congress party and joined the BJP due to our dissatisfaction with Congress’s alliance with AAP.

Ajay Kumar: As you have already served as MLA for five years in the same constituency, what are the major issues of our colony?

Neeraj Basoya: The last 12 years have been a “blackout period” for your colony in which my predecessors ignored the Defence Colony and hardly spent any MLA funds to create this worst situation of all the civic services, like roads, street lights, sewers, parks, security, etc. I have been meeting the residents of Defence Colony and understand their issues, which would be my first priority in the coming months!

Ajay Kumar: What are your plans for Defence Colony in the next year? Neeraj Basoya: As per my election promises and agenda, I have already created a team to start the developments in Defence Colony, and I will personally supervise this team to ensure timely actions in all matters. The major focus would be on roads and sewerage before the monsoons to ensure there is no waterlogging in the colony. The roads will be relaid and repaired with the best materials and techniques. We will coordinate with the BSES to repair and install new lights in all the black spots. The parks will be properly maintained under PPP schemes, and we will try to increase the financial support to the park committees during this tenure. The horticulture department would be asked to do a census of the entire colony to identify all the ailing trees to start with the treatment and pruning, etc., to make them healthy and strong. I will also coordinate with the police department to increase the security arrangement, more beats, better verification of staff, and additional support to seniors and women.

Ajay Kumar: We are happy to know that you understand all the issues and have all the required plans to resolve the current issues to bring back the glory of Defence Colony. We will be in touch with you regularly to highlight the issues and developments.

Neeraj Basoya: Ajay Ji, I am thankful to you and Samvada for reaching out to me. Rest assured that I will be most visible and active in supporting the residents of Defence Colony.
