“Divya Guno se Saji Sajai, Bhaiyya Rakhi Bahena Laayi”
Sisters sing this song with love and affection for their brother on Shravan Purnima every year while tying the thread of love on their brother’s wrist. While the festival is rooted in familial love, it also holds spiritual significance, symbolising protection, duty and eternal connection between individuals.
A programme was held on Wednesday, 21 August in the Yoga Room from 4 to 6 PM and was organised by the Lotus Boulevard Brahma Kumari Group. The programme began with invocation to the divine, seeking blessings for the participants followed by meditation to align with supreme and creating a sacred space for love and protection.
BK Mamta Didi and BK Ruchi Didi gave the message of love and brotherhood and stated, “Rakhi symbolises divine grace and the soul’s eternal connection”. In olden times, the Brahmins used to go door- to-door tying the sacred thread to each one irrespective of caste and creed, male or female, poor or rich.
This was not only between brother and sister but between every human soul for their protection from evil. Raksha Bandhan has a spiritual significance; every ritual performed has its own importance.
Tilak: Use of sandalwood/ kesar on the forehead between the eyebrows reminds us of God and inner self as point of light.
Jyoti (Traditional Lamp): symbolic form of God, the Supreme Being/ Power
Rakhi (Sacred thread): symbol of pledge and bond between souls
Offering Sweets: being soft and sweet in our speech
Gift: surrendering ourselves to the Supreme
In conclusion, the thread of love was tied to everyone by BK sisters and offered sweets along with godly message to each participant. A sacred and divine atmosphere was created with the singing of spiritual songs: the melody of our souls.
We conveyed our thanks to LB current President Prabhakar Ji and AOA.4 team for their presence and participation and motivating others towards spiritualism.
