The pioneering project is popular playwright, Mahesh Elkunchwar’s Sonata, a play in English about female bonding. To be performed at the Maharani Bagh Community Centre, or MBCC, on Oct 29, 2022 at 5:30 pm.
Three girl friends meet for an evening of revelry and end up with revelations from their past. Told with humour and warmth, this tale of rivalry and friendship is written by a bachelor, who understood the female psyche.
Mahesh Elkunchwar is an icon in Maharashtra and has written screenplays for critically appreciated films like Party, directed by Govind Nihalani and Holi, directed by Ketan Mehta. He was awarded the Tata Literature Lifetime Award this month.
The play was performed at the India Habitat Centre last month. It is being presented by Sohaila Kapur, an actor, playwright and director and a Maharani Bagh resident, as her living room theatre project. The show is at the Maharani Bagh Community Centre (MBCC), 1 Central Avenue and is open to all residents of the colony, as well as those in Friends Colony, NFC and Kalindi. Entry is free, on a first come, first seated basis.
