The men’s final at Wimbledon, a classic and the most prestigious tournament in Tennis, was held on Sunday July 14, 2024 but at Panchshila Club the spotlight had shifted to another set of courts. All members were invited to the inauguration of the Panchshila Club Sports Complex, with 3 new Pickleball courts and 1 Padel court adjacent to the 4 existing Tennis courts. The ceremony was scheduled for 11 a.m., on the West Lawn and our enthusiastic residents and Club members braved the heat to attend.
Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj, honourable Minister for Health, Urban Development, Tourism and Industry inaugurated the complex. The arrangements were impeccable. It was a simple ceremony of a puja followed by the ribbon cutting. Guests were invited to try their hand at the games and also enjoy a scrumptious tea.
Panchshila Club has long been known for its Tennis courts but now the Pickleball and Padel will prove to be just as popular. If you find the size of the tennis courts a bit intimidating, the smaller size of these courts may prove just right and a good way to get exercise along with some socialising.
It was nice to see the President Mr. Rajesh Chopra, Vice President Mr. Jasjit Singh, members of the MC and Sports SC in full attendance along with over 100 guests. Panchshila Club is one of the few to have so much space in South Delhi, and it is great that new sports facilities are being made available. The Club is keen make fitness and health a way of life for the young and seniors alike.
