The sanitation department of MCD is like the back bone of the colony which takes care of maintaining the beauty and cleanliness in the colony.
Every morning you see the Safai Sewaks. About 90 of them enter the colony and cater to their respective blocks till 2pm in the afternoon.
They are always on ground whether it is extremely cold, hot or raining to make sure the colony is clean. Most of these are still contractual labourers even after 16 years of service and have still not been enrolled into MCD.
These sewaks headed by an inspector currently Mahender Singh who delegates duty in the ward. Apart from their regular duty some complaints are urgent where he puts in a special effort involving the team to spruce up the whole area. These are our silent workers who are often criticised for their work. “Mere lane nahi hui” but with their heads held high they finish a well-done job.
Samvada Salutes these Safai Sewaks!
