On Saturday 15th July, a Rudra Puja was organized by the Art of Living at the Anand Lok Community Centre. The venue was beautifully adorned with flower arrangements and the stage was set for a mystical evening with the chanting of prayers followed by satsang and prasad.
The puja began and the hall was totally packed with distinguished guests. The Swami ji leading the puja explained that the Rudrabhishek is an ancient chanting which was downloaded from the Aakasha (space). When the ancient sages and Rishis sat in meditation, they heard these chants and they shared this knowledge further.
This is a very powerful puja and the effect of Rudrabhishek is that it creates positive energy and removes negative vibes. It creates more positive ions all around. There is a tranquility that envelopes the entire space. Sacred Rudra Pujas are performed in the month of Shravan, to facilitate our inward journey spiritually.
Rudra Puja invokes and pays obeisance to the Shiva Tattva or Principle in the cosmos. These ancient sacred mantras chanted in this puja not only help one grow spiritually, but also help one achieve everything else that one desires in one’s material life. Rudra Pooja offers relief from sorrow and grief. It removes all obstacles and negativity and brings blessings for good health, success and prosperity.
As the mantras were being chanted, milk and water was offered and poured through the crystal, drop by drop. All the five elements are used in pooja. Pooja means that which is born out of fullness. So water, incense sticks, fruits, flowers, rice, all the five elements that nature has given to us, those offerings are used as the chanting goes on.
There is a lot of depth and meaning to the ceremony and the significance of it was articulately explained by Swami ji. The chanting evoked a tranquility that ensconced all those who were present. The Satsang that followed was a musical delight . Every person attending the puja had a very unique and beautiful experience.
