Evening ends with medley of ghazals and songs
The PTI Employees Cooperative House Building Society’s Annual General Body Meeting was held on Saturday, 2nd March 2024 at Gulmohar Centre, Gulmohar Park. The AGM held in the evening was a great success and was followed by interaction between the members who used the occasion to catch up on the happenings and discuss the way forward as far as the PTI was concerned. Some of the members conveyed their appreciation for the Managing Committee’s efforts in maintaining the strong association with the management of the Gulmohar Centre that has benefitted both for years.
This was just the beginning. The highlight of the evening was over an hour of Ghazals by engineer turned professional singer Gurbir Singh, who, by his own admission, follows raag-based ghazals and is a great follower of the legendary Mehdi Hassan and Jagjit Singh. The Musical Evening was open to all members of Gulmohar Centre, and the ground floor hall at the Centre reverberated with melody and repeated applause. It was the first time that any Parent Society of Gulmohar Centre had sponsored such an event. The evening was well attended and appreciated by ghazal lovers and as in any event, all attendees took a break for some personal interaction with the singer over dinner.
This was followed by another round of ghazals that included personal requests and also some popular and more recent songs. People loved the fact that they could interact with the singer and he was most gracious with respect to the requests from the members. Both Gurbir, and the members found it difficult to finally call it a night around 11.30 pm and ended with a medley of songs and a great round of applause for the singer.
The President of the PTI Society, Mr ?.Yogendra Sahai, rightly says a great beginning has been made, and such events go a long way in strengthening bonds within a community.
