Marking the end to years of colonial rule in India, we celebrate our country’s freedom in the form of Independence Day on August 15 every year. This year the event, was made successful by the efforts of dedicated volunteers from the society, was celebrated with unparalleled enthusiasm andfervour at Apex Athena and served as the testament to the society’s enduring spirit, unity, and progress.
The residents’ chest swelled with pride as Retd. Col. Mainali, invited as the Chief Guest, unfurled the tricolour flag at the central park of the society. He’s been a part of the Indian Army since 1982 until 2017 and has served almost every strategic state in India. He has immensely contributed to the nation during some major operations including the Blue Star Operation 1984, United Nations operations in Somalia 1993, Operation Vijay 1999 and Mumbai terror attack 2008 under NSG.
Followed by the flag unfurling, the children took the stage for some heart-warming, mesmerising and patriotic cultural display through the art of dance, music and speeches. The diversity of India’s cultural heritage was on full display, fostering a sense of unity amongst the people present.
A poster making competition was also organized for the children divided into 3 age groups and all the colorful posters were displayed in the society adding to the aesthetic spirit of the day!
The celebrations ended with prize distribution to the winners of poster-making competition. All the children who participated in the cultural event were also commemorated with a gift.
All the residents enjoyed the refreshments organised by Rohit Awasthi, a respected resident of the society, as our national flag soared high and nationalist tunes pulsated in the air.
