While we enter yet another new year, some people, especially students, are entering a new phase of their lives.
While we enter yet another new year, some people, especially students, are entering a new phase of their lives. After a rough and tiring year of giving exams after exams, they are now settling into their much-awaited college lives. Although this is new and exciting, the stories behind the entrance to the respective colleges are nothing short of blood, sweat and tears. With the conduct of CUET examination this year in the majority of colleges and universities, the pressure on these students was extremely high, owing to the double set of examinations, the board and the CUET.
Even though the competition was ever high in the last years, this year the numbers and the lists broke all records. With the top colleges’ seats filled in the first list itself, the tension amongst the students aiming for colleges and universities was at an all time high. The government universities, with a limited number of seats, were difficult to chase even for students with the highest scoring marks or percentages.
The amount of mental stress that a student during this time has to go through is immeasurable and the waiting for the college of their choice which caters to their every need and want only adds to that. The vast difference in the number of applicants and the seats is worrisome in terms of the students left behind, the all time rising population of the country and thus the economy that goes with it.
Students are the next generation, people who will lead the world. And even though college is an extremely important part of one’s life, it is not the end of the world if one doesn’t get their dream college.
