The Man Who Walks On Palms

Though the government has fixed the age of retirement from 58 to 60 years because it was a general belief that the human body starts detonating at this stage. But Girish Kumar (W3-124) has proved this to be a wrongly placed notion. At 63, he is completely fit and healthy with no BP issues, no diabetes, and no joint pain, which are expected at this age. He is full of confidence, strength and has perfect health.

According to him, this credit goes to his passion for Yoga. He started Yoga at 18 and since then he has practised it. Even today he practices yoga exercises daily for one and a half hours. One hour in the park and 30 minutes at home on his yoga mat.

Once, I saw him at the park, walking on his hands, like an expert acrobat. Unable to believe, I shot a video of him. Oblivious to all this, he continued this exercise for two minutes and even after that, there was no stress, discomfort or tiredness on his face. He was smiling as it was his daily routine.

He is a content and happy soul. A strict vegetarian, he does not consume even onion or garlic and sticks to home-cooked meals. After 7 pm, he never eats anything. He has a small family, a wife, a son in the US and a daughter in Gurugram. He likes music, reading books, and watching the news on TV. Sometimes he writes small poems too.
