Plans for deer park in Biodiversity Park
For the sectors of Noida, aside the Expressway, the Biodiversity Park is the ‘Lungs’. Spread across 110 acres, it is the breathing space for the high-rise modern residential societies and commercial/office complexes that have been developed across many sectors encircling the Park. After the unexpected good rain on 28 June morning and light showers subsequently, “…it is exhilarating to be in the park or watch the spread out greenery from windows, for those lucky ones who have the view”. Residents are now making it a point to be more regular.
Within these few years of its development by the Noida Authority, it has now come of age. The meandering walking track for joggers/walkers, the undulating green land for children to run wild, the sitting arrangements – all has been taken of, for different age groups, while designing of the place.
Last year an area within this was developed as Dogs’ Park and several facilities for entertainment and recreation of the pets and the pet-parents are coming up, as declared by the CEO, Noida Authority, in 2023.
Recently, the Authority has taken a decision to set up an enclosure for deer on a 30-acre plot within the Park. Arrangements will be made for at least 130 deer of different species, which will come from different zoos – from Lucknow, Kanpur, Hyderabad and even Africa. Still in the planning stage for various estimations, on paper, it will be put forth the Authority board for approval. This is an effort to conserve the decreasing population of deer in this region, which earlier had a good number. Senior knowledgeable former forest conservators will be consulted for decisions on providing a natural environment to the deer, in the Park.
The master layout of the park, according to officials, will also have aisles and visitor amenities. There is plan to have administrative and veterinary health infrastructure, which will be designed in accordance with the guidelines of Zoo Rules and approval by the Central Zoo Authority.
This is an ambitious project of Noida. It attracts visitors from far and wide and is expected to bring people from other parts of NCR too.
It’s still enough time that the proposed plan is executed, till then the families staying around can make the most of the present moment. The AQI is well within healthy parameters and will continue for these wet months.
