We are lucky that the Lotus Boulevard developer, while conceptualizing the entire facility, rightly judged the need for providing an inhouse library to cater to the prospective residents’ intellect levels. It provided a space located on the clubhouse third floor with a wonderful ambiance and provision for centralized air-conditioning.
Since inception, a library with limited resources was started. With occupancy increase, the number of high intellect residents increased too. Books and publications have been added incrementally by them.
The collection now includes books and publications from various fields namely Spiritual, Science & Tech, Management, Finance, Fiction, Law, Biographies etc. A close look reveals that rare latest books and publications are added there, possibly by resident booklovers.
Due to the nice facilities, the number of library users has increased which includes book lovers, newspaper readers, senior citizens and students.
A full time, or at least part time, librarian is needed. A financial implication is maintained in the Boulevard record too. But a librarian could not be provided, due to reasons unknown. Due to this, books sometimes disappear from the library.
Although, enthusiastic users maintain the library bookshelf on their own and also motivate users to keep the books back in the shelf from where the book was taken.
For Samvada readers, it is imperative we recommend a few of the must-read books of our library –
Don’t Tell The Governor by Ravi Subr-amanian – A book for those interested in Indian economic, political and social activities over the last few years. You will find the incidents of this era unfolding in a wonderful manner.
Mr. Subramanian’s other books are equally interesting.
The Times Complete History Of The World by Richard Overy – A comprehensive collection of historical references. A majestic hardcover edition. For people of all ages.
Winning by Jack Welch and Suzy Welch – A comprehensive look at how to succeed in business. This is a must-read and must-emulate for everyone, from college graduates to CEOs.
Once one reads and emulates, there is no need to read any other management book to succeed.
Elon Musk by Ashlee Vance – An intensely reported, wonderfully spirited account of Musk’s rise to the business world pinnacle. This is a definitive look at a man who may have the biggest impact on the human race.
This book will be the planet’s founding document.
No Hindi book lover would have missed Chandrakanta Santati, an epic written by Devaki Nandan Khatri. A romantic fantasy novel, people of that era learnt Hindi just to be able to read this book.
Of course, people of our era still remember Kroor Singh of the Hindi serial Chandrakanta.
Another Hindi novel Chitralekha, by Bhagwati Charan Verma, a wonderful illusion to understand what is punya and what is paap. A must-read Hindi literature novel.
