We have all heard of the “great game” which was played out in the nuclear weapons era between the USA and the Soviet Union. Here in GK2 (and perhaps other places as well) we have the great “sucking” game. It’s played out every morning and evening, more in the morning because there’s not very much of the raw material left to play with, in the evenings, and so it’s less intense. I’m talking about “S-block” because that’s where I live. It goes somewhat like this – early every morning just before the dawn is about to break, the early birds get up and rush to press the button (you guessed it – the button which gets the water), which if successful, will ensure their happiness and comfort for the day! Then you hear another motor start in the next house and then another – it’s literally “fastest finger first”. The one who pressed the button first gets his water from the DJB pipeline – but not for long – a smarter guy with a bigger gun (sorry motor) comes along and presses his button, and the first chap has had it! His / her water stops! Because the chap with the more powerful motor wins !!

Slowly, all hell breaks loose as the late risers realize what they’ve missed out on & rush to seize their share of the precious commodity !! Everybody is sucking each others’ water! It’s hilarious, even if the undertone is truly tragic. The same exercise is repeated in the evening, albeit on a smaller & less intense scale. That’s how we pass our recreation time in GK2 S-Block !!!
