Apex Athena, a well-known Group Housing Society, was all set to celebrate Durga Puja with great fervour and enthusiasm. As one of the most significant festivals in Indian culture, Durga Puja
holds a special place in the hearts of millions of devotees worldwide.
It was decided to form an organizing committee to arrange the society’s celebration for Durga Pooja – 2023 to practice the inclusive approach among all. The organising committee at Apex Athena understands the importance of embracing cultural diversity and fostering a sense of unity among its residents. With this in mind, they have decided to celebrate Durga Puja as a way to honour and respect the traditions and beliefs of their co-residents.
The celebrations at Apex Athena were marked by various activities and events that showcase the essence of Durga Puja. From vibrant decorations depicting Hindu mythology to engaging cultural performances such as dance, music, and bhakti, every aspect was meticulously planned to create an immersive experience for everyone involved.
The festivities began on October 20 with the grand welcome of Maa Durga’s idol to the society and its Sthapana at the pandal, as per the prescribed procedure. In the evening, resident children, senior citizens, and elders presented joyous cultural performances of dance, music, and songs. The delightful cultural program was anchored by Anil Prakash Gupta, Juhi Verma, and Manvi Mishra, with a well-planned and strong back end of members organising committee.
The following day, a magnificent “Mata ki Chowki” was organized, where all the residents participated with utmost devotion and enjoyed the vibrant performances given by the professional artists. All residents prayed, danced, and sang along with the performers with high zest and zeal.
On October 22, a Dandiya Night was arranged on a huge stage set-up in the society’s Central Park. The ground was beautifully decorated with a fairy-light roof and colourful fabrics. All residents joined the troupe of professional ‘Kalbeliya’ dance artists in dandiya and garba dance moves.
On October 23, a musical night was arranged, where residents enjoyed live band performances by professional artists along with a lavish Gala Dinner.
The festivities concluded on October 24 with a grand Visarjan of Maa Durga’s idol in the morning and Ravan Dahan in the evening.
Special arrangements were made for traditional rituals like puja (worship), sandhi puja (concluding ceremony), and Sindoor Khela (vermillion play). These rituals not only carry deep spiritual significance but also promote a sense of camaraderie amongst colleagues who come together to partake in these age-old customs.
Apex Athena recognizes that celebrating festivals like Durga Puja not only strengthens cultural bonds but also boosts residents’ morale and fosters a sense of belonging within the society. By embracing diversity and promoting inclusivity through such festivities, Apex Athena sets an exemplary precedent for other societies to follow.
