The flowering trees in S Block Park are a beautiful sight. S Block Park is full of trees of all types. There are almost 38 different varieties, including some fruit bearing trees like, “Bel”, mulberry, Jamun, Chiku, Mangoes, Pomegranate, & Lemon etc. There are huge old trees of silk cotton, bargad, pipal, silver arch etc. The trees are numbered & there are around three hundred trees in S Block Park. Some are around hundred years old. However, the really beauty is imparted by flowering trees like,”Amaltas” & Pride of India. The lone magnificent “Amaltas” was in full bloom around 15 June (Near SBWS office). Also, known as “Aragvadha” or Cassis Fistula, it has many medicinal properties. The other beautiful variety is of “Pride of India”, botanical name of which is “Lagerstoemia speciosa”. We have four of these in our beautiful park.
