We know well how Hamletians always come together to celebrate events, festivals, get-togethers and are always here for each other! This time, it was for the cause of Recycling – Reusing – Repurposing which was existing in WhatsApp groups for some time now courtesy a few intelligent women residents.
It was decided to bring this cause out in the open and demonstrate it live for a bigger experience and a better connection with the community. Hence, this Exhibition aka Garage Sale was planned! Residents were invited to showcase their favourite used goods, which were of no use to them, and sell them at highly discounted prices, for the welfare of fellow neighbours.
Messages were circulated many times across all tower groups to catch maximum attention. Smita Dhall (14091), Deepa Shah (14181), Parvati Prabha (14102), Sandhya Mishra (11251), & Supriya (11241) volunteered to ensure a smooth flow of activities.
The BOM too gave its support; Atul Nigam (T14) helped us in every possible way.
The Garage Sale was organized on Sunday, 25 February at the Amphitheatre between 11 AM & 1:30 PM. The day was sunny; exhibitors had blocked their spaces in advance to display their belongings.
Kids also participated by putting stalls of lemonade, popcorn, sandwiches & candies. To our surprise, there were tattoo – making artists amongst them too. Our emerging entrepreneurs were trying to make the most of the day!
It was quite a relaxing day for all of us. We were in the open with our neighbours, friends and family. We socialized, chatted and also generated revenue by selling what was lying unused at our homes. It was a win- win situation. There were giveaway items too which were distributed freely.
Words of appreciation kept coming till days after; residents urged for an encore. Hope the inherent message stays in our hearts & minds; we continue to Reuse – Recycle – Repurpose.
