Across the Globe Indians celebrate a diverse number of festivals, typically marking events from ancient India.. Like every year a large no. of festivals are celebrated by RP 1 residents. RWA too gives full support for doing so. The best part is the enthusiasm of residents which is remarkable. This way we try to keep our culture alive and fresh and share our values with the next generations. These celebrations are also a way of interacting with our fellow residents, where several internal and external issues are discussed and give room for improvement.
On 15th August, our Independence Day was celebrated. Flag hoisting was done by the President Surinder Yadav. Refreshments were distributed to the attendees. RWA cultural committee conducted several games for children and senior citizens, such as a cycle race, drawing competition, musical chair etc. followed by a sumptuous lunch. Winners of the games were facilitated with prizes. It was great fun and successful.
We don’t stop here, 18 August was Haryali Teej, a great festival for Hindu women. This festival is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Women pray for blissful marriage and married life and also for the well-being of their families. A bunch of ladies were decked in green attire, sang songs, danced, swung and enjoyed mouth-watering snacks.
We are looking forward to and preparing for the forthcoming festivals as well!
