The Cricketer & Yogi in Espacia: Santosh Aunty

Santosh Aunty (35-1804) was born in the holy city of Varanasi. After completing three years of schooling in Calcutta Savitri Pathshala, she moved to Delhi. She did Graduation from Kamla Nehru College (Delhi University) in English, Hindi, Philosophy and Psychology. Her post-graduation was in Hindi.

“I’ve been into sports since school. I was the best cadet core of NCC in my school and the captain of the women hockey team in college. Apart from sports, I was equally involved in cultural activities like dance, singing and theatre.

Since I’ve always been athletic, I guess my love for sports will never die.”, says Santosh Aunty.
“During a stressful family environment, I joined Yoga classes conducted by the Akhil Bhartiya Yoga Sansthan at Mayur Vihar. Yoga changed me completely. Now I feel healthy physically and from inside. Later I took a teaching course in Yoga from Patanjali Haridwar. Now I start my day with Yoga. It gives me spiritual satisfaction. It’s my lifeline.

We moved to Espacia in 2017. Before coming here, we were in Mayur Vihar, Delhi. One day, when I was walking with my daughter, we came across the cricket ground. Here I saw Dr. Surbhi, Nishi and Pammiji practicing for the Espacia Cricket Box League.

Seeing them, the cricket keeda woke up within me. This is how I joined the Espacia women cricket team. Even before joining the team, I can say that I was popular amongst Espacians because of my Yoga. This made it a little easy for me to gel with the residents here irrespective of their age. I love to socialize with people, which is my nature.

I’d had an arranged marriage. We were blessed with two wonderful daughters named Aditi and Aishwarya. Aditi got married in 2011; Aishwarya is doing LLM.”
