Gazebo, which was coined jokingly in the 18th century, combining two Latin words, “Gaze” & “I shall”, has become almost a garden staple across the world. The cozy canopy that was invented by Egyptians 5000 years ago, to grow vines & offer shelter from rain & sun, has become a community hotspot for park-goers of Malibu, young & old. One can often spot older groups coming together to chit-chat, laugh, share stories, and even sing bhajans. On quieter days, you will find a book lover or two enjoying their favourite reads under the cool shade. Even our maintenance staff could sometimes be seen picking up Hindi & Bengali books from the little community library & indulging their pursuit of knowledge. We bet the Egyptians never imagined such a happy outcome of their simple invention.
